Well there is a rather unsettling fact that the planet can only sustain human population levels (without electricity and without petrochemical fertilizers) at somewhere between 600 million and one billion.

This means that about 6 billion people are going to die from starvation when the crude oil dries up (or is destroyed).

It takes more energy to make a solar panel than the solar panel will yield in its lifetime.

It takes more energy to make a wind generator than the wind generator will yield in its lifetime.

(not to mention the environmental damage that results from mining the requisite materials).

It's going to be one hell of a global game of musical chairs.
