It seems to be working quite well so far (slow and steady wins the race, quality over quantity).
It's important to keep your expectations low.
I try to "wake up" one person a year, so, you know, don't "rush".
You're not trying to make a quota.
You're not going to "wake up" anyone instantly (unless they're almost awake anyway).
You have to sort of make simple suggestions, then they'll roll over and go back to sleep.
You don't want to agitate them, let them sleep for a while, that's fine.
Just wait for the right moment. Like a crocodile.
I try to wait until someone asks me a specific question, or expresses some specific frustration or despair like, "there is NO solution" or "the world and humanity is fundamentally broken".
This (link below) is a perfect example of how to wake someone up.
Don't overshoot or oversell.
Notice how he says, "but that's me, and I could be wrong" and later, "you do what you like man" in order to "downplay" his own point.
This technique helps short-circuit a "sleeper's" instinctive psychological defenses (which can mitigate the "backfire effect").
Click to watch 2 minutes and 12 seconds,
Whatever you do, resist the urge to shout "you're wrong" and or "you're an idiot" because that will almost always be counter-productive.
