Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
Dar ‘Gottem’ Gearnut is a legendary dual splinter Life/Dragon unit. He is described as a gnome whose obsession with dragons led him to build a crude dragon suit out of scrap metal until he eventually went looking for a real dragon. What makes him special is his enormous health pool makes him difficult to defeat, especially when supported by healing or defensive buffs. In today's post, we'll show a typical team built around Gearnut and how it's used effectively in battle.
Dar was never a conventional gnome craftsman. While the other gnomes of New Wilhelmdale forged weapons and armor, Dar became fascinated with dragons. He constructed his own makeshift wings, scales, and tail, convinced that he could imitate a dragon. Eventually, his obsession drove him to Mount Redwyrm, the home of the ancient dragon Rage, where he encountered the very creatures he had been trying to emulate.
Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut is a fourteen mana, legendary, Dragon and Life unit. His stats and abilities are impressive making him one of the expensive Modern legendary cards. At maxed levels, he deals three melee damage and has three speed. What makes him special is his enormous health of twenty five. He complements it with his Void ability to defend against magic attacks. On offensive abilities, he has Trample that allows him to carryover damage to adjacent enemy units. He also has Flank, allowing another melee tank to play in second position. For support, he has Inspire that increase melee units attacks.
Player kingbadly employs the typical strategy when using Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut. The key units are the archon Avina of the Wolf that grants Gearnut a self healing ability and Calabash Sage who has Tank Heal ability. The strategy is to keep healing Gearnut and sustain him througout the battle while damage dealers behind him attack the enemy. As long as Gearnut holds the line, then his team mates will be protected against attacks and will let them attack the enemy freely.
His enemy also had a good strategy anchored on a strong tank and supported by a healer and armor repairer. The magic damage was also strong and could have ended Gearnut if not for the healing. Also, it was lucky that his enemy only had one Opportunity attacker. Most of the attacks targeted Gearnut who has a huge health pool and sustained by healing.
