Hello Splinterlands warriors. My blog this time is an entry to @takeru255 contest. It's about an encounter with
@bunsbagsandcaps card, Bugs the Unseen.
Here's my story:
The campfire was warm, providing comfort in the cold night. There, grizzled warriors huddled around brooding about their battles. Their battered armor marks the experience of countless battles. They're led by Knight Artoria (also known as Twice Yester Knight), sharpening her blade in a corner. She believed in Khymia, Goddess of Justice, and in the kingdom that bore her name. Though her armor was dented and her spirit worn, she held to her vows: to shield the innocent, to bring light where darkness gathered, and to never waver. She prayed for strength. And every morning, when the sun broke through the haze, she rose to meet it.
"What's are you thinking of? Why so glum?" she addressed the group.
"It's that we're summoned by a smiling bird. A freaking bird!" grunted the Great Bear Druid.
The Great Bear druids are his stewards, leaders in rite and spirit. They guide the tribe through the seasons, read omens in snowmelt and cloudbreak, and listen for Ulum’s voice in swirling snow and shifting winds, seeking what fate may bring. They wear the hides of slain bears, a mantle of faith. The beast grants them its strength, as willed by Ulum. And when the fighting begins, the Great Bear druids carry that strength forward, unyielding as destiny.
"Think nothing of it." said Lady Amara, a mysterious elf from a faraway land who joined their group. "The bird provides us with armor that raised our overall defense. It may appear jolly but he helps us with defense."
"At the very least, we can eat it when we get hungry." grunted the minotaur known as New Beluroc Aegis. He trash talks the enemy in battles and draw their attacks.
"Hey, don't make that joke. I have wings too!" the Celestial Guardian chimed in.
Lady Amara smiled at him. "What an angel..."
"Hmpf, he molts." complained the Great Bear Druid. "He leaves his wings all over the ground and he hoots when he sleeps."
"Are you referring to the owl or the angel?" and everyone laughed, lightening the dour mood.
Suddenly, there was noise in the forest. "Who goes there?"
A bespectacled nerdy guy emerged from the bushes. "Excuse me, may I share your fire? It's a cold night and I'm travelling alone."
"Who are you and why do travel alone?"
"I'm just a simple traveller." the stranger replied.
"What does 'BBC' mean in your satchel?" said Lady Amara.
"Big, black, coc.." the minotaur almost said but was interrupted by the angel.
"Come join us, friend." the Celestial Angel said.
"I'm called Buns." the stranger said.
"Like the mysterious Buns the Unseen?" said Lady Amara.
Among the oldest whispers of Praetoria, there are stories of a traveler who walks roads unseen by ordinary eyes. Known only as Buns, the Unseen appears wherever the boundaries between realms begin to thin. Some claim he steps from the fog itself, emerging without warning before vanishing just as quickly. Carrying maps that chart places no scholar can find and wielding relic-forged armor etched with glowing emerald runes, he journeys between Splinters in search of forgotten truths lost to time and war. Though never counted among the great armies of Praetoria, Buns has stood beside nearly all of them at one point or another. Veterans speak of battles where defeat seemed certain, only for the silent wanderer to appear moments before the tide turned.
"I am he." the stranger replied.
The group gave a collective gasp.
