Music and movies and the distant past. That's me.
Hoppy Jones on Cello
I commented on someone's video where they were playing ukulele accompanied by someone on cello - it sounded really good. And they pointed out that one of the Ink Spots (turns out it's Hoppy Jones) played cello pizzicato on many of their numbers in place of double bass - and then you look at a video and it's true, there it is, I've never noticed it before, but that's definitely a cello.
You're Just In Love
This is a lovely duet from "Call Me Madam" - best version I know is Ethel Merman and Donald O'Connor in the movie. Very simple, but effective with the right voices and personalities.
Beyond The Roar
This is the exhibition that goes with the publication of the UK 1920 census records. When I went to the National Archives I had too much to do looking at actual family records to take some time with the exhibition, but I ought to go again.
Camerados
These things come up from time to time. People try to put a label on being nice to each other. Not sure whether it got anywhere, but it made it as far as my phone :)
Of Human Bondage (1934)
Spendid movie with classic performance by Bette Davis. "You cad, you dirty swine! I never cared for you, not once! I was always makin' a fool of ya! Ya bored me stiff; I hated ya! It made me SICK when I had to let ya kiss me. I only did it because ya begged me, ya hounded me and drove me crazy! And after ya kissed me, I always used to wipe my mouth! WIPE MY MOUTH!"
