The birds have disappeared somewhere. There were few of them in summer, and in winter they are almost not visible at all. There are not even sparrows on the city streets. I do not meet tits and jackdaws. Bullfinches, the most winter bird, I have not seen in the city or in the village for several years. Only pigeons, as before, sit on windowsills, walk through the thawed areas and wait there for food from caring hands. But I hardly photograph pigeons. They are too familiar for an urban environment.
This black bird, similar to a Raven, was the first thing I managed to photograph in December. Then a few more joined her, but the camera could not tune in at a large zoom and the rest of the shots turned out to be completely out of focus.
On one of the sunny days, the same birds were photographed better. They were basking on the same tree that grows in our yard. It remains unclear to me what kind of birds they are. Maybe Rooks? But they don't winter here, and Raven don't live in cities. But it may well be that these are Black Crows. I've heard that there are such.
Until the river that flows through our city was covered with ice, ducks could be seen there. These photos were taken on one of the first days of the beginning of winter. When the ice got up, the ducks moved to the ice-free part near the dam, but we never went there.
I remember how already in January, I was glad to see this Jackdaw. Usually they went in flocks, but this one was alone and quickly hid behind the car. I managed to make only one frame.
In February, a few days ago, when we were resting in the village, Partridges came close to the house. I photographed them from the window on this cloudy day. The glass was fogged up, it turned out to photograph them badly, but I am glad that I have these frames, in memory of such a rare meeting. In summer, Partridges live in meadows and it is very difficult to photograph them without scaring them away.
These are their footprints in the snow. When we were away, Partridges went everywhere in a flock, not at all afraid of cats.
This Pigeon accidentally got into the frame when I was photographing something completely different. Let him fly here now, too.
There are a lot of pigeons everywhere, not just near human habitation. I met this flock in the park, where they are fed by walking townspeople.
These are all my winter birds so far. It remains to wait for spring to see them in abundance again.
