I have not done a post for a couple of days - mainly because I lost a very dear friend on monday and so could not get into writing anything at all.
I am still trying to process it all but I know these things take time.
Anyway, life must go on and so here I am.
So today I thought I would mention a few successes and failures with my veggies.
Last year I grew quite a bit of kale and although it all grew well and there was plenty to harvest, keeping the aphids off the leaves was something that kept me busy as I do not use chemicals on my veggies.
So I decided to grow spinach and beets instead and they are all looking good.
My moringa tree has died - the bulb is still there so I have left it in the soil just in case a miracle happens and it sends up a new shoot.
My garlic has been a success and I have already harvested most of it and now it is being cured for the next few weeks.
The tomatoes that I planted - various heirloom varieties, have all grown well - although a couple got very water logged when we had too much rain and the bottom leaves are looking yellow, but fruits are forming regardless.
Both the chilli and pepper plants are producing nicely and loving the hot weather.
My corriander and rocket did well and I was able to harvest plenty.
The celery is amazing and I harvest it regularly.
All my other herbs are growing well although I lost my thyme and am trying to root some more.
