There currently is a foot and mouth disease outbreak in SA, I believe China has stopped imports of all 'cloven-hoofed' animal products from SA! There were a few cases of the disease at a couple of local schools! Never heard of that disease in humans before!
Who knows, maybe the UK is right?
But that kind of fine!
My brother had a lot of Dutch cheeses seized some time back when entering SA. He bought it at Schiphol airport so it was in his hand luggage. Apparently our rules are open to misinterpretation. My son had the cheese in his check-in luggage, didn't know about it and had no issues!
