The four basic elements are air, earth, fire, and water and all can do massive damage as we all know and it is said that water is stronger than fire as it can kill fire, but the danger of fires cannot be over-emphasised, and I will be telling you about the dangers of a simple family barbeque at home.
My niece’s young son shockingly suffered severe second degree burns five years ago.
His father asked him to fetch firelighters from the kitchen cabinet, as the charcoal was battling to ignite.
Nothing wrong with that request, but instead of picking up the firelighters, the little boy brought out a bottle of highly flammable liquid that was stored in the same cupboard.

I'm sharing this here in the Silver Bloggers Community, hoping that there are Moms and Dads or Grandmas and Grandpas who will take note of this harsh lesson and that is:
Never store substances that are potentially harmful within reach of young children.
This little boy learned a painful lesson for not listening to Dad by trying to be clever and taking the flammable liquid instead of the firelighters.
What happened next had dire consequences for the little boy and his parents!
Mom was inside making a salad and Dad had his back to the fire when the little boy came out and tossed the liquid straight from the bottle onto the smoldering charcoal with disastrous consequences!
The liquid ignited and the bottle exploded in his hand; his face, chest and arm was on fire!
Dad immediately rushed him into the shower and let the cool water run over his little body, suffering minor burns himself in the process.
The little boy was rushed to the nearest hospital where he received excellent treatment in the burn unit.
His life was saved by specialist surgeons, who are passionate about their job!
The young boy had to undergo two skin grafts and his wounds healed very slowly plus he ended up spending four months in hospital, while missing a whole school term.
Not a pretty sight, but this just goes to show how quickly an accident can happen, and that it could have been avoided if that liquid was stored out of reach!

Thankfully this brave young man also is very bright and with hard work managed to catch up on all the school work he missed and passed Grade 2 with flying colours!
He was been scarred quite badly but some of the scars have started fading and Mom still massages the scars with a Vitamin E Tissue Oil plus he has to try and keep the scarring out of the sun.
The physical scars will heal, but the mental scars will take much longer.
His scars are still visible, but young Linton survived thanks to the excellent care by the medical personnel and his parents!
A dire warning for all of us to be careful about storing dangerous substances in locked cupboards and out of reach of little ones, especially all the sanitizers that we're all using nowadays as small inquisitive toddlers may think it's something to be consumed!
One of the doctors, Dr Nikki Allorto started an organisation called The Burn Care Trust in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, and in her own words:
“Burn injuries scar your body and without appropriate care,
scar your heart forever,
no matter if you are the patient, parent, grandparent or caregiver
This young doctor was deeply affected by the severe trauma burn victims were experiencing and the lack of good burn care facilities in South Africa.
