Sometimes being curious really pays off. Today I went for my Sunday stroll along the sea front, and noticed a lot of cars parked on the far end of the beach lawn. There were some flags flying above the cars. Interesting, I thought. Must explore.
It wasn't a party or fair or anything, just banks of camper vans parked on the lawn. Turns out this is a VeeDub Family gathering, a group for Volkswagen owners to meet up and hang around. Originally I couldn't figure out why the club is called VeeDub, then it dawned on me. Vee for V, and Dub for W - VolksWagen!!!
People sat outside their vans mingling with one another, as you would on a Sunday afternoon. Some of the vans were opened up, putting themselves on display so to speak. I asked the guys standing next to their yellow and orange top camper vans if I could take photos of the interior. Sure, they replied. Orange goes so well with black. And what about yellow? Blue and Minnons of course. What else?!
I love the lengths people go to decorate their camper van. They were so colourful. You can tell how proud the owners were of their camper vans. Some went full blown in sharp colours, and others just a dash of colour on the wheels.

The VeeDub event wasn't just for camper vans. There were all types of VW. One that really stood out was s vintage Beetle that looked as it was well travelled and couldn't travel further. And don't judge a book by its cover. The vehicle was restored immaculately by its owner, even down to small things like the wheel caps that looks like a crown. It certainly caught people's attention as it cruised away.
The VeeDub meet up, wasn't an awfully lively event. It was more of a group of people sharing the same passion for their love of a lifestyle. Spending a quiet Sunday afternoon together. And for me, I stumbled upon the event by accident, isn't that the perfect way to spend the weekend?
