I think the western world view death in a much more positive way, and some graveyards are quite pretty. In my parent's cemetery, it actually looks very much like a park, as the tombstones have to be flat on the ground. Often I see people go and sit there in summer, maybe they feel like they're closer to their other half. Whereas in Asia, death and cemetery are very dark gloomy places, you wouldn't want to set foot there unless it was out of respect for the dead.
