If you're fortunate to work in a high cost country, you have a higher chance of FIRE by moving to a low cost country when you've achieved FI. That's what drove us to Taiwan a decade ago.

The other thing with the nest is it's composition. In recently years I've started to invest in the US market and that has helped pumped my nest quite a bit. But since I'm not going to materialise the gains immediately, that could all disappear in the next few years taking me negative. No one expected a dot com bubble crash , who knows if there will be an AI bubble crash?

Then there's crypto, that swings even more. And I shan't state the obvious here 🤐 and the impact it has on my nest, except luckily not that bad as it's a very small portion.
