The practitioners of the Christian religion this week we celebrate what we call "Holy Week", which is a full week in the year that we dedicate to remember the whole process that Jesus, son of God, lived during his last days of life and his subsequent resurrection.
Don't ask me too much about it, I'm not that much of a religious practitioner, but I accept that the celebration of this week has become a family tradition since always, so, by custom, I celebrate it together with my family.
During these days we all try to go, even one day, to church, make some creations with the palm leaves collected on "Palm Sunday", avoid eating red meat and some other rituals with prayers that my mom does, but I don't really know them all.
For my part I usually use other strategies to get closer to God, I don't think we need to have specific dates, go to a temple, pray or see an image to be able to get closer to him, that's why my way of doing it is meditating to feel better with myself.
I am a faithful believer that only when we are well with ourselves is when we get closer to that God who is already in our hearts and, in turn, when we feel good, is when we can have better understanding, discernment, better treatment of others, help and have peace in general.
I consider that this is much more important than spending all day in a temple or praying, because at the end of the day God's word tells us: "help yourself, and I will help you", I don't know about you, but what I interpret from this is that each one of us needs to do our own work with ourselves so that God can help us.
However, as usual, I usually accompany my mom to some procession, this time we went to the meeting of Jesus with his mother Mary, this we consider one of the most significant days of the week and that is why we decided to attend.
I took some very nice pictures, but there were a lot of people, in Venezuela most of the population is Catholic Christian, so many celebrate these dates with true abnegation, so the processions are always very crowded.
On other days of the week, many Venezuelans, I don't know if it is the same in other regions, take the opportunity to go to the beach, they say it is to recharge their energies and also to celebrate religion. We don't go swimming on this date, since we always have the beach with us, but we do like to walk for a while, especially me because I like to meditate on the beach.
I took some pictures, but incredibly (and I say this because I had not seen the island so full for years) because of the amount of people there, I could not take the pictures I would have liked, plus there was a long queue of cars to go and return from the beach, so my parents and I decided to just go for a while, but we returned quickly to avoid getting stuck on the way back.
Semana Santa ends tomorrow and I am still surprised by the amount of people on the island this year, which I am very happy about because it means economic growth for the region. There are still a few things I have to do every year, but I will not put pressure on myself, for now I will keep trying to get closer to God as I have always liked to do.
I hope you are having a good time too, I hug you!
