This poem was written for my son, Keagan.
Years ago you were born to me
So small so pure how could this be
He sent you down to save my life
You know not what then was my strife
You changed my life you gave me hope
You made it easier to cope
We lived our lives side by side
A perfect gift a gift of life
You were then as you are right now
The most beautiful thing I could behold
You’re strong and bold and pure and true
Oh thank you God He gave me you
I watched you grow and I did know
That one day I would watch you go
We walked this path a path of mine.
Set out to find our God Devine
A promise made a promise kept
How far we’ve come how far we’ve leapt
Our God is great and very real
He helps us love, He helps us feel
Focus lost and time flew by
A day would come I did deny
The day of dread it came too soon
My heart my soul began to swoon
He's gone right now to build a life
I pray oh God he wins this fight
His all grown up and oh so bright.
He's ready now to face his plight
He knows not what he means to me
My baby boy at last you’re free
To live your life and live it right
Promise me you’ll not give up the fight
Your far away my little soul
I’m waiting here and will behold
The boy that grew into a man
I know you will I know you can
I love you Keags you are my light
You bring my weary soul delight
Your home is here right in my heart
I know you had an early start
Please time move fast as fast as light
And let me know that he's alright
I say goodbye and can’t deny
I let you go so you could fly
For Keagan, my first born baby…I love you always…mom
