I have proofread and rephrased some of the contents of this guideline below. I hope this will be beneficial to the musing team.
Musing Curation Guidelines.
Read all questions and answers thoroughly: By reading the posts fully, we as curators will be able to separate favorable posts from spam, plagiarism and low-quality drivel. Over time, not only will this make us more efficient at what we do, but it will also teach us a lot through quality answers.
Respect our Users: Musing has a diverse set of users and it is only getting bigger. Genuine Musers are people who want to help, they will do the research and write up a thoughtful answer to strengthen the community. By reading their answers in their entirety and rewarding them accordingly, Musing will be able to retain strong users who will be role models in the community. Curators should match their effort in order to build a lasting relationship with them.
Check For Plagiarism: Musing answers should be original content. People who steal content to post for their own gain should never be rewarded and it should be strictly discouraged. Low effort posts contribute to a low quality platform. We all want new and thought provoking content, not some spammy regurgitated information.
If you as a curator have considered a post for voting, you must check it for plagiarism. You may use google search and specific plagiarism checking tools to verify whether it is original content or not. If you find it to be copied, simply flag the user for their actions and make a note. If the user added quotes or excerpts as an example with original commentary, then this is completely okay and encouraged.
Some users may try to use rephrase tools to get away with stealing content. If you feel suspicious about someone trying to do something like that, make sure to consult with other senior curators before voting.
Keep an eye out for Exceptional Musers: There are many users who post good answers but there are few who do this consistently. We need to recognize the people that do and reward them for their contributions. These people will likely become the role models for the site and encourage good behavior.
Exceptional Musers are ones who have an understanding of our goal and are frequent and consistent contributors. Do not take them for granted, they may not need the highest reward when steempower is below 86% but reward them fairly. If you notice new users with exceptional content high % upvotes should go to them.
Punctuation, Grammar, Sentence Structure: Musing encourages English posts at the moment. We understand that English is not everyone’s first language and know that without international users contributing their experiences and knowledge Musing won't be what it is meant to be.
If an answer has a few grammatical or structural errors but provides a thoughtful and detailed response it can be considered a good answer. Many international users try their best to write helpful responses and their time and effort should be valued equally.
On the other hand, there are many low effort answers and copy and paste answers from google translate which do not make much sense or detract from the question being asked. These answers should be and in some cases flagged if they become frequent from the same user. Incomplete or incomprehensible questions like “Who is?” should also be discouraged.
Introduction Posts: Introduction or “about me” questions should be flagged. Eventually we will update our user profile page where personal information that users want to share will be displayed.
Question Posts: For the time being, question posts should be given 3-5% upvotes unless of course it is an outstanding or thought provoking question, then, 10% is appropriate.
Continuous Improvement: Curators will be a large part of Musing’s growth. If you see anything that needs improvement or change please share on our discord channel. We are keeping a log of all suggestions we have received and the dev team is working hard to get many of them implemented.
Post on Musing Regularly: Curators are community role models and capable leaders. When users see posts made by curators they will know what quality posts should look like and will soon follow suit.
Post Guidelines
What makes a good quality answer:
Starts with who, what when, where why rather than “bitcoin good?”.
Has proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Is clear and specific enough to garner a mutual understanding between the asker and responder.
Be respectful in your questions, do not make assumptions about race, religion, sex etc.
Use the search feature to make sure your question wasn't asked before.
Questions can be about anything you want to know!
What makes a good quality answer:
Good quality answers grab the attention of the reader without click-bait titles.
Good quality questions do not contain unnecessary promotional links or spam.
Answer the question that has been asked. Refrain from going off on a tangent unless it provides clarity or an example supporting the answer.
Provide insight thoughts to opinion based questions.
Formatting should be neat and help guide the reader through the answer. Example 1, Example 2.
Quality answers do not have a minimum length, but providing insight and elaboration to a “yes/no” answer can be much more helpful.
