Painting a Wall Mural and incorporating the light fixture in it… and the 7 Steps how I created it 😊
Hi all 👋🏻
Hope you are enjoying your weekend 💃🏻
I wanted to show you today one of my earlier #mural #artworks I created in February 2016 on a #wall in a bedroom of a #penthouse in Burriana beach, Nerja Spain 🇪🇸
Yes, the same penthouse I painted the ”tree of life” on the terrace… see Tree of Life Mural I painted: Penthouse in Spain, step by step/ SBS and what Happened Next! (40 photos)
This wall painting was next to the built in wardrobe and had a light fixture 💡 high up the wall. I didn’t want to paint the scene below it. So I used the light fixture in my artwork… I integrated it into the entire scene. I will show you in this post. Here you go @digi-me, as promised 😉
The client wanted a broken wall with a view out to the sea 🌊
The dimensions of this WALLPAINTING / MURAL are 140 x 170 cm ~ 55.118 x 66.929 inches
This mural is painted with acrylics and normal brushes.
I could stay in the penthouse for a week while I painted the mural 😉 as it was a holiday let. I so didn’t mind… it is a stunning area to relax and wander around… even visit Nerja. 🥰
Step 1
After the sketch of the bricks and lining out the broken part, I started the sky… I didn’t have a plan yet but it evolved while I painted the scene of a view out to sea.
If you look closely in the cloud area, you see the spot light 💡
The metal sun in the top right is a decoration hanging down from the ceiling, not to be removed 😁
Step 2
A bit further… I wasn’t happy with the sky and clouds so changed the design slightly as you can see. And to integrate the light fixture more I created sun beams. The sea has received one layer of paint now.
Step 3
Close up of a little boat and it’s details. I used the structure of the wall into the wood. So it looked like the texture of wood a bit more.
Step 4
I added some land on the sides. Palm trees 🌴 and a lighthouse are staples for a beach / sea scape.
Step 5
Created the boardwalk, here I also used the structure of the rough wall to give it a weathered wood look. You see this in the darker parts of the wood.
Step 6
Started painting the grouting in between the bricks 🧱
The sea scene is finished here. So I focus on the special effects 😉😎
Let’s paint some bricks 🧱
Next I show you first some close up details, photos I took with my iPhone 5 at the time, so the quality isn’t great… but you see here the start of the bricks and details / textures I’m adding to the cement and bricks:
The wood above it, with lots of textures too.
Not finished yet… I added more details and shading.
Remember I was integrating the light fixture… so I added the light and shadow parts in the right spots for special effects when the light 💡 is actually turned on. You see a little bit further. 😁😎
Step 7 Finished Mural.
Finished Mural with the light bulb turned on:
See what I mean when you look at the bricks, the areas are lit up in the right spots 😉 as does the boardwalk.
The light became the sun ☀️
It’s very interesting don’t you think?
Part of the bedroom so you see the entire corner.
It’s bigger than most people think.
140 x 170cm
The clients were super happy with this result.
Thank you for looking and reading. I hope you enjoyed my Step by Step ( #SBS ) of this earlier wall #painting / #artwork on a wall. 😊
Any questions or comments, let me know. Always happy to help.😊 And talk about art.
Have a great day all 😎👋🏻
