Hi all 👋🏻

With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge and Make me Smile challenge. That are hosted by tattoodjay@tattoodjay and elizacheng@elizacheng every week on Wednesday. Have a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community!

Today I want to share with you our walk along the Cabo Roche Trail, Conil de La Frontera in Cádiz province, Spain.

We walked the first half along the river: Río Roche and back along the Seafront and its cliffs.

We walked here 17 April 2021 and the photos are taken with my iPhone.

Location of this walk on Google Maps:

We started the walk with the green flag at Roche trail, walked up along the river towards the second green flag at Dehesa de Roche and via the third green flag back along the Seafront and cliffs.

We parked our car close at a little port, where I had a quick look around and a look around the corner (where we wouldn’t be walking).

There was an old anchor, being all rusty…

We walked towards the start of the trail.
And saw a sign with another walk. It’s not the walk we will be following, but it will cross over here and there. Our walk is not really sign posted, but I know the way. 😉

At the start of the river there is an industrial area, were fishermen are working and some storage units. It also looks like a boat graveyard in the beginning.

A little further we reach the nature part… and see:

The river and loads of trees we will be walking under.

The bark has a lot of details… I love the textures. And details.

The shade is welcoming as I remember it was a warm day in April last year.

Next to us we see flowers along the path… spring really started 🥰

We are still walking next to the river.

And see more flowers now.

Beautiful colours 💜

The path is widening and less shady areas ahead.

The path tells us now to cross the river, and follow along on the other side of it.

On the little bridge we see not much of the river at this point. But it is still there 😎

Some bright and colourful flowers greet us on this side.

As the path is getting steeper… we follow along.

The views here are stunning. So far we have not crossed paths with other people. We are all alone… in nature and with its wildlife 🥰 can’t ask for more!

Lavender… the smell… mmmm

Trees are slowly disappearing now.

It’s wide and open, we hear birds around us. Nothing else… so peaceful.

More beautiful flowers, these were small but I saw them. Couldn’t just walk by without taking a photo 😊

Now we walk a little further and cross a road to reach the other side and walk back along the cliffs and seafront.

We see:

Little coves with sandy beaches… stairs going down towards them. We walk still high up along the cliffs and skip most beaches.

As you can see, they are almost empty, just a few people are sunbathing and swimming.

Let’s walk further.

More little coves, a few brave souls are in the water… still too cold for me 😉

Let’s go and check out one of these beaches.

On top of the stairs we find this post.
With the name of the cala- beach not visual anymore.

The stairs we walked down. They look cute from this way.

Let’s walk up again.

The walls are covered with fossils of shells and probably sea creatures.

Almost up again…

We continue our walk along the cliffs.

A view down at the edge. No fence or protection, so be careful for loose ground close at the edge.

I spotted a seagull.

As we walked further…

It flew away.

The last beach from our walk we pass by.

We reach a curve in our path, I look back towards the sea here.

We are at the end of the beach we saw before.

8abfda28_f57b_413d_8f52_e278b1c4e9ce.jpeg
We reach a wooden path now and follow it towards the lighthouse: Faro de Cabo Roche.

View…

View towards the path we walked.

We find a sign now that says this area is great for watching migrating birds flying over. It’s a migratory corridor.

At the other side of the sign we find this abandoned house.

As we reach the road now towards the little port, we walk along a sidewalk back towards the car.

I spot a few more flowers along the path.
