“Follow your Path” my Airbrushed Acrylic and Gouache Painted Artwork (11 progress steps) SBS

I wanted to show you my mixed media and mixed technique painting and some progress steps / step by steps of it today. (SBS)

Title: ”Follow your Path”
I finished this painting 01-2014 and it is one of my earlier Artworks. This painting was started December 2012… it had a lot of breaks inbetween as big life changes happened, like my divorce. I did finish it over time 😎 the title relates to what happened in my life that time.
I started my art in 2011, and I am self taught. I love to share my progress steps with the world.
This painting is sold and resides on the wall of a lovely lady in Málaga.
~The Dimensions are 39 x 50 cm / 15.4 x 19.7 inch
~Underground is an illustration board (specifically for airbrushing.
~Gouache paints I am using are from Dahler Rowney and Winsor and Newton. Acrylic airbrush paints are from Schmincke.

~techniques used; airbrushing and painting with normal brushes.
I love mixing techniques together, the artwork becomes hybrid. You can create a different form of depth this way.
Here are my SBS’s, Enjoy 😊
Step 1
After I drew a sketch with the main features. I started the background with the airbrush and my acrylic paint.
Here you can see I airbrushed mainly with grey. The light and shadow parts and textures of the foliage. With a transparent green I spray over it to create colour, different hues of green. The textures and light/dark area remain. Like putting a glaze on at an oil painting. (Photos were taken inside at night so they are a little bit dark)
Step 2
More background added. This is a black and white photograph to see if the values are right.

Step 3
I airbrushed the greens over the grey underground.
Step 4
Started the road. This is all still done with the airbrush and acrylic paint.
Step 5
Textures and more colour added to the road with the airbrush.
Step 6
I started painting with the normal brushes and gouache paint. The entire woman will be painted this way.
Step 6 detail
Details of her feet.
Step 7
More details added to the entire painting. And I added the outside vignette with the airbrush.

Painted her hair with gouache.
Step 9
Started her dress.
Step 10
More colour and details painted.
