I don't always post about lampposts but when I come across some random scene that in my mind doesn’t quite makes sense, yet I still dig it because on some visceral level, it is part of who I am as a member of this culture, and there’s no getting around that. Artistic types flock to Canada’s west coast searching for new ecological niches to expand creativity, so like spores from a gene-pool, they pollinate and cross-pollinate the misty forests of the Pacific Northwest.
So, it is not surprising to come across a lampposts full of masks on some street with no name.
If I were a younger man, I would say, what in the flying fuck is this? Now that I'm a grown man, wiser, I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation why there’s a lamppost full of masks and risqué carvings in the middle of nowhere. It’s also not surprising to see the words in black marker scrawled on the post, “stolen on May 7th by some cretin”. What?
Anyway, is there a point to this story? Is there some cosmic meaning behind it? Perhaps some insight into cultural practices and spiritual consciousness? Perhaps, yes, but I’m not about to get into any of that because it’s naked-chick-kneeling-on-horned-devil time.
