The owl features in the tales and beliefs of west coast indigenous cultures. Its importance varies and so do the tales. The bird of prey is generally associated with wisdom, foresight, intuition, and transformation. The owl is a spooky creature, so I find it curious but not surprising that different cultures hold similar beliefs about these mysterious birds.
The owl is the messenger between worlds. A link to the ancestors. Protector as one traverses from one stage of life to another. It is an appropriate symbol to place at the entrance to YVR airport.
