Good to see you're back! I thought you had been abducted by aliens. I was just about to call the mounted police. Great to see my hypothesis was wrong :)
How do you feel after the secret is revealed and the thrill wears off? Do you know for sure that you got to the bottom of a secret?
Maybe some secrets never lose their thrill because they're infinite. An infinite secret means infinite learning. 🤗
The moment someone tells me, "it's millions of neurons receiving and transmitting signals"
Exactly! Now you know something more about the amazing computational complexity of the brain. Instead of being just a box full of 'humours' and phantasms, we now have a clear understanding of the mechanism. Then we can say, how does this network produce consciousness? Can we model it? Can we build new networks to enhance ourselves? Are there other intelligences out there? How are they similar or different? The discovery of one secret has peeled back the layers of reality and opened a multitude of tiny firing delightful secrets so infinitely complex that there is no ending in sight. Eternal delight!
Aircrafts and cars, smart phones and computers, I use them and they become the more ordinary, the more I use them, despite being able to understand their mechanics en detail.
Most of us are walking around not aware of our true place in this cosmos. We habituate daily life and react to it automatically. We see a craft, a phone, a computer as an appliance or a tool that exists outside of us. They become routine. I have a different view. I believe these technologies are actually extensions of our nervous system. They extend the range and scope of our consciousness the way our eyes and ears widen our ability to receive different forms of input. They only appear to be ordinary but are quite extraordinary. This state of being can be understood intellectually, but it is not enough. One needs to understand it experientially. Another thrilling secret to discover.
“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.” William Blake
For me, it's pointless to "finally arrive", for I don't see a final arrival. For how many centuries do people say "not yet"?
I have good news for you. We have arrived!
Yes, maybe someone/thing has already done it but I wouldn't want to know, it's like spoiling my personal game.
That's too bad. I was getting ready to send you the cosmic blueprints. You would have loved stage 8-3 when quantum bliss comes into play. I guess maybe some other time.
Ciao bella!
😚
