HOW TO UNBRICK A SAMSUNG GALAXY A03s (SM-A037F)

A practical recovery guide for a Samsung Galaxy A03s stuck in a bootloop

THE PROBLEM

We recently worked on a Samsung Galaxy A03s (SM-A037F) that was:

• Stuck on the Samsung logo
• Restarting continuously
• Showing a “Custom Binary” warning
• Unable to boot normally
• Showing FRP Lock: OFF in this particular case

This guide documents the recovery process we used to bring the device back to life.

STEP 1 — IDENTIFY THE PHONE

When the phone cannot boot normally, you may not be able to use the normal dial-code method to retrieve device information.

Find the Serial Number (S/N)

1. Remove the SIM card tray.
2. Inspect the SIM-tray/rear-frame area.
3. Locate the Serial Number (S/N).
4. Record it carefully.

The S/N was used in this repair to help obtain the correct firmware package.

STEP 2 — GET THE FIRMWARE

For this repair, we used Bifrost, an open-source firmware downloader, to obtain the Samsung firmware.

The documented package was approximately 4.5 GB and was an Android 13 package.

If Bifrost fails at 100%

The original repair encountered:

“System cannot specify the file”

Try:

• Close Bifrost.
• Run the program as Administrator.
• Alternatively, change the download directory to a simple location such as the Desktop.

These were the workarounds that resolved the documented download/decryption problem.

STEP 3 — PREPARE THE FIRMWARE IN ODIN

After the firmware was decrypted/extracted, four main files were available.

Firmware	Odin Slot	Purpose
BL_...	BL	Bootloader
AP_...	AP	System image
CP_...	CP	Modem / Radio
CSC_...	CSC	CSC / clean installation

We used Odin v3.14.4 for the documented repair.

⚠️ IMPORTANT

The original procedure specifically used:

CSC — NOT HOME_CSC

because the goal was to perform a deeper clean installation and wipe the corrupted system data.

Note: Using CSC can erase user data.

STEP 4 — ENTER DOWNLOAD MODE

Prepare the phone for flashing.

1. Power the phone off completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down.
3. While holding the buttons, connect the USB cable to the PC.
4. Confirm that the phone enters Download Mode.
5. Open Odin.
6. Check that the COM connection becomes active.
7. Confirm the firmware files are in the correct slots.
8. Click START.

The original repair used the active COM connection as the confirmation before beginning the flash.

⚠️ DURING FLASHING

DO NOT disconnect the USB cable or interrupt the flashing process.

STEP 5 — ODIN SAYS “PASS” BUT THE PHONE STILL LOOPS?

Don't panic.

In our documented repair, Odin successfully displayed:

🟢 PASS!

But the phone was still stuck on the Samsung logo.

The next step was to enter Android Recovery Mode.

Enter Recovery Mode

1. Force the phone off using Volume Down + Power.
2. As soon as the screen goes black, immediately switch to Volume Up + Power.
3. Continue until the Android Recovery menu appears.

Then:

Wipe Data / Factory Reset

↓

Wipe Cache Partition

↓

Reboot System

The recovery wipe was the final step that cleared the persistent bootloop in the documented repair.

⚠️ WARNING

Wipe Data / Factory Reset deletes user data.

Only perform it when you understand and accept the consequences.

🟢 STEP 6 — BACK ON TRACK

After the recovery wipe, the phone successfully completed the boot process and reached the:

WELCOME SCREEN

The documented repair reported:

✓ Phone booted normally
✓ Custom Binary issue disappeared
✓ FRP remained clear in this case
✓ IMEI displayed normally
✓ Device became fully operational
