"Nature is a space in life that reminds us of its infinite beauty"
Liseth Zamora.
The month of May has always symbolized in Venezuela the beginning of the harvest; where the first rains fall to break the strong drought. This year it was accompanied by several forest fires, unfortunately common in the area where I live.
La Victoria, Aragua belongs to the coast-mountain region, so it is common to observe its prominent valleys and mountains that with a few drops of rain green up even if they are dry for the moment.
A beautiful species that during the whole year goes unnoticed because normally its greenery and foliage are not striking is the Araguaney. When its leaves basically all fall, one of the most beautiful spectacles of nature begins: the flowering.
Its beautiful flowers are massive and cover practically the entire tree.
For years, it has been a source of inspiration for many people: writers, copleros, composers and singers; since its flowers have an exuberant yellow color. Although it is found throughout the national territory, it is mostly observed in the Venezuelan plains.
This time, I had the opportunity to enjoy it much closer to me; since it bloomed two blocks from my home and has turned out to be the sensation and the center of attraction of the community. As it is an extremely young specimen, this is the first time it has bloomed in such magnitude. In previous years it had only achieved a few small buds. This tree can last between 80 and 120 years, the yellow flowers appear from 8 to 10 years after being planted.
Now, what makes it so attractive to all of us is that this enjoyment is extremely ephemeral, since it can last 4 days at the most, after which it leaves a striking yellow carpet.
