Create a cute character

This is my submission to Jenny's art contest.
The mission was to create a cute character. I thought for it to be cute it needs to have big dark eyes and very big ears. The Moroccan fox would be a perfect match. So I set out to first create a generic background so that the white of the paper was not staring me down with intimidation. When I got the idea somewhat clear in my head it was time to scribble a sketch, rescribble, move around and mirror until I was satisfied. Added the plate to create some extra interest and story.

Next step was to throw down some color to start with and fill in and adjust until I thought it was good enough (well, you know, it is never good enough, but you have to stop somewhere...)

Now we need some texture and hairs

Followed by a light and dark pass, some extra interest and some coins and a shadow to ground him on the floor. Added a small signature and call it finished.
