The red-lipped batfish is a deepwater fish usually found exclusively on the sandy bottoms partially covered in sand or mud near the Galapagos Islands, and off Peru at depths of 3 to 76 m or greater. the most important thing about batfish is that although it lives in water, it is not a good swimmer; But luckily they are capable of walking on the ocean floor using their modified fins as their legs.

The red-lipped batfish has an horn covered in little hairs,in the middle of its face called an illicium. This structure is employed for attracting prey.

Batfish reaches up to 20 cm in length
