Rabi Shrestha
Many of Nepal's new generation of artists move easily between styles and techniques Here Rabi has re-created a carved wooden book cover of the five Dhyani Buddhas in the Newari style.
This painting follows closely traditional rules of iconography. His painting of Durga slaying Maheshwar demonstrates the case with which he can preserve traditional iconography representations of a deity but interpret the event in a style influenced by Western watercolor techniques.
