There are signs of Spring, of regeneration - today, I noticed that the Daffodils are putting up leaves and one lone Hyacinth with a cluster of flower buds is emerging - I need a less cold and windy day to go out and take all of the dead leaves and trash that passer's by throw along the sidewalk and garden so when in March we get a week of warm weather and all of the Spring flowers suddenly emerge. I will have something beautiful to see when I walk out my front door.
I planted over 20 bulbs & waited long enough for them to bloom but not many of them poke their heads out. All of these bulbs are gifts from one of my closest friends. I haven't met with him for a long time now. I really miss him a lot. I'm hoping to be there with him one day. Time is flying quickly, and I need something to keep me tied in this realm. Here in the spring, it's neither too hot or too cold, and a tiny breeze is blowing. I'd love to take some photos of those bulbs when they bloom.
Here we are still getting high winds, bitter cold, ice storms, and snow. Between storms, there will be a day or two of warm weather that is tricking the spring flowers into believing that perhaps Spring has arrived. None of the bulbs that I planted last fall have dared to poke their heads out but others that I have planted in previous years are sending up a few leaves to test the weather. Oh, I will share lots of photos when they start blooming in earnest in April and May!
I'm not too concerned because this is far too early to anticipate, as we normally don't see any spring flowers blooming until around April 1st- it all relies on the flowers' seeds. We're all going insane, exhausted by not being able to do things, and still in a state of uncertainty as this pandemic continues to evolve. Every time we think it's over and we can return to travel and resume our normal lives, another variant of the Coronavirus emerges, putting all of our plans on hold. Despite the fact that I have been able to use public transportation beyond where I can walk in this small town and travel to Dhaka in 1 hour and 45 minutes, visit old Dhaka and meet with friends, handle important business matters, or go see a great movie, play, or live music performance - we all feel as if we are going insane!
The spring season usually offers a refreshing appearance in nature, with new leaves and buds, as well as spring flowers. And Bees are collecting honey and buzzing and playing all over the mustard field. It's a wonderful time to go outside and discover nature.
