As we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, He did not promise us to live a simple life but rather He calls us to suffer in any persecution by claiming the testimony in faith in Jesus' name.
Christians are aliens and strangers in this world fighting against fleshy lusts and being persecuted. As a result, we must expect to suffer in Jesus' name who endured all kinds of suffering for us.
I Peter reminds us the necessity of suffering. Sometimes in trying to conquer our suffering, we sin in thoughts, in words, and in deeds by retaliating. By that, we lose our victory and damage our testimony.
Do not fight the fight that is not yours. Be careful in the midst of your suffering. Do not overreact in times of suffering. Rather, put your trust to your Saviour. Put in mind that all things drawn unto you have purpose. He allows suffering to strengthen us and make us even stronger than before.
