Talkpoints disappear in 2017
The well known Yellow pole next to the Dutch highways have been aborted since today.
From now on, u can only call them by cellphone.
The well-known yellow talks along the Dutch highways will disappear. Minister Schultz van Haegen of Infrastructure and Environment informed the Lower House about the future of the speeches. Until 1 July 2017, they will remain in use. Rijkswaterstaat and the ANWB will gather together to inform the road user over the coming period.
In her letter to the Lower House, the minister writes that the ANWB and the Rijkswaterstaat share the future picture that the speech pole will become redundant in a few years, using mobile phones and systems like e-call and b-call.
These new technologies not only work faster, but are also safer because road users no longer have to walk along the road. However, current practice teaches that about one third of the 30,000 users per year have no (charged) mobile phone. Both parties will therefore jointly prepare the road user for a future without voice mail

The new technology puts an end to an image-determining element along the highways. The first part of the talk palette was commissioned by the then Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management on 21 December 1970.
