There is always a city within another city within another city and so on, not successively, but event by event, which is not the same even though it may seem so. I, who consider the possibility that I have had of traveling almost all of this cursed and beautiful, beautiful and cursed Island (perhaps because of one or the other) a blessing, have been taking notes of those intricacies in which they go awry. Actually, they are not guilty, it is not that they like to mutate from one to another or from themselves to themselves as misfortunes come. Like us, who inhabit the suns, they have to wait, either the collapse of some that will be absorbed, or the slow and metastatic death of its streets, en masse.
Havana took over early, what a fragile whore, like so many. I was also very young. I imagine we shared that grace. I cannot conceive that such things happen to one after many years, no, those misfortunes are typical of age, of when one suffers, as I suffered at that time that I did not know how to observe. But time works its magic, and one keeps tripping over the broken cobblestones of the city, which is no longer that city from once, nor the one from another time, nor even the one from the last time, it is the city that one treads on now, the one that has swallowed others, the one that loses pieces.
I walk for the Queen Bee of this Island, the one that monopolizes all the honey in the honeycomb. Maybe if you know where to step you'll get muddy with sweetness, maybe... Anything can happen, this is where everything can happen.
Sometimes it is simple to observe the city. For many it is enough to look in the mirror. This one today is the city, this other one today is me, my city, this other one today is also me, city. We don't always wear the same faces. For example, this one today is not my face, they have lent it to me to try to hunt down a future.
