Debo admitir que gasté gran parte de mi adolescencia jugando MOBAs, este estilo de juego donde asumes el rol de un héroe y tienes que combatir a campeones enemigos mientras defiendes y atacas torres me tenía completamente atrapado, en aquellos años, la rutina perfecta consistía en reunirme con mis amigos para pasar tardes enteras jugando al mapa original de Dota en Warcraft 3. Era la época dorada del juego en LAN, compartiendo una red local y viviendo la adrenalina de cada partida en la misma habitación. Sé que existían métodos alternativos para jugarlo en internet a través de redes P2P, pero honestamente mi vicio no llegaba hasta ese extremo; con las sesiones locales nos bastaba. * * * **I have to admit that I spent a good part of my teenage years playing MOBAs. This style of game, where you take on the role of a hero and have to fight enemy champions while defending and attacking towers, had me completely hooked. Back then, the perfect routine consisted of getting together with my friends to spend entire afternoons playing the original Dota map in Warcraft 3. It was the golden age of LAN gaming, sharing a local network and experiencing the adrenaline rush of each match in the same room. I know there were alternative methods to play it online through P2P networks, but honestly, my addiction didn't go that far; local sessions were enough for us.**

Sin embargo, todo cambió drásticamente al llegar a la universidad. Al separarme de mi grupo de amigos de la infancia, me topé con la dura realidad de no conseguir personas en mi nuevo entorno que compartieran el mismo interés por los Mobas. Obligado por las circunstancias, tuve que buscar una alternativa individual y fue ahí donde descubrí League of Legends (LoL). Aunque este título presentaba diferencias notables con respecto al Dota, me pareció una excelente alternativa para jugar en línea desde mi laptop. Pasé muchos años dedicándole horas a este juego y, quitando el factor de su comunidad altamente tóxica, consideraba que el juego en cuestión estaba sumamente bien diseñado. * * * **However, everything changed drastically when I started university. After separating from my childhood friends, I faced the harsh reality of not finding anyone in my new environment who shared my interest in MOBAs. Forced by circumstances, I had to find a solo alternative, and that's when I discovered League of Legends (LoL). Although this title had notable differences compared to Dota, it seemed like an excellent alternative for playing online from my laptop. I spent many years dedicating hours to this game, and aside from its highly toxic community, I considered the game to be extremely well-designed.**

Con el paso del tiempo, mi estilo de vida evolucionó y poco a poco dejé de usar mi laptop, es increíble cómo las tareas y usos cotidianos que antes dependían exclusivamente de una computadora empezaron a trasladarse por completo al teléfono celular, en un principio, utilizaba la laptop para absolutamente todo: trabajar, estudiar y jugar. Luego, su uso se redujo únicamente a las sesiones de juego y los deberes de la universidad, más adelante, quedó solo para jugar y, hoy en día, la situación es casi irónica: solo la enciendo muy rara vez cuando quiero ver alguna película específica que no logro encontrar en ninguno de los múltiples servicios de streaming que pago. * * * **Over time, my lifestyle evolved, and I gradually stopped using my laptop. It's incredible how everyday tasks and activities that once depended exclusively on a computer began to shift entirely to my cell phone. Initially, I used my laptop for absolutely everything: work, study, and play games. Then, its use was reduced to gaming sessions and university assignments. Later, it was only used for gaming, and nowadays, the situation is almost ironic: I only turn it on very rarely when I want to watch a specific movie that I can't find on any of the multiple streaming services I pay for.**

Hace unos meses, me pegó la nostalgia y quise volver al competitivo mundo de los MOBAs, sin embargo, me daba una flojera tremenda tener que sentarme a encender la laptop solo para eso, por lo que decidí buscar una alternativa moderna en Android. La primera opción en la lista era evidente: Wild Rift, la versión oficial para dispositivos móviles de League of Legends. Lamentablemente, la experiencia no fue la que esperaba. El juego se siente sumamente pesado, tosco en sus transiciones e innecesariamente complicado para el formato móvil, siento que los desarrolladores se obsesionaron con hacer un port demasiado fiel al juego de PC, olvidando que no se puede comparar la precisión y velocidad de un mouse y un teclado con los límites mecánicos de una pantalla táctil. * * * **A few months ago, I got nostalgic and wanted to return to the competitive world of MOBAs. However, I was incredibly lazy about having to sit down and turn on my laptop just for that, so I decided to look for a modern alternative on Android. The first option on the list was obvious: Wild Rift, the official mobile version of League of Legends. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't what I expected. The game feels extremely sluggish, its transitions are clunky, and it's unnecessarily complicated for the mobile format. I feel like the developers were obsessed with making a port that was too faithful to the PC game, forgetting that you can't compare the precision and speed of a mouse and keyboard with the mechanical limitations of a touchscreen.**

Después de probar y descartar varias alternativas en la Play Store, llegué al que considero el verdadero "LoL no oficial" para celulares: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Este título es, básicamente, un Dota simplificado al máximo. Su jugabilidad se basa casi exclusivamente en el posicionamiento básico y en apretar los botones de las habilidades en el momento justo para eliminar a tus enemigos de manera casi automática. Aquí no necesitas dominar complejas estrategias, congelar oleadas de súbditos o aprender mecánicas avanzadas de apuntado; el objetivo principal se reduce a farmear dinero rápido para equipar tus objetos antes que el rival. * * * **After trying and discarding several alternatives on the Play Store, I arrived at what I consider the true "unofficial League of Legends" for mobile: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. This title is basically a Dota game, simplified to the extreme. Its gameplay is based almost exclusively on basic positioning and pressing the ability buttons at the right moment to eliminate your enemies almost automatically. Here, you don't need to master complex strategies, freeze minion waves, or learn advanced aiming mechanics; the main objective is simply to farm money quickly to equip your items before your opponent.**

Es un juego realmente sencillo, pero ofrece exactamente la sensación frenética que yo estaba buscando: entrar, destruir torres, conseguir bajas y salir sin la necesidad de hacer un curso intensivo de cómo jugar en Androi, solo basta con presionar la pantalla y golpear. * * * **It's a really simple game, but it offers exactly the frantic feeling I was looking for: enter, destroy towers, get kills and leave without needing to take an intensive course on how to play on Android, you just have to press the screen and hit.**

Otro factor determinante que me hizo decantarme por este juego es la duración de las partidas, cuando jugaba a League of Legends en PC, llegué a disputar partidas de hasta 40 o 50 minutos que me dejaban mentalmente agotado, en Mobile Legends, el ritmo es tan vertiginoso que si una partida llega a demorar 15 minutos es porque el enfrentamiento estuvo sumamente reñid, esta velocidad lo hace el juego perfecto para disfrutar en cualquier rato libre del día, ideal para partidas rápidas sin comprometer tu tiempo. * * * Another determining factor that made me choose this game is the length of the matches. When I played League of Legends on PC, I would play matches that lasted up to 40 or 50 minutes, which left me mentally exhausted. In Mobile Legends, the pace is so fast that if a match lasts 15 minutes, it's because the encounter was extremely close. This speed makes it the perfect game to enjoy in any free moment of the day, ideal for quick matches without compromising your time.

En conclusión, Mobile Legends es la definición perfecta de lo que debe ser un MOBA casual, es el juego ideal para personas que no quieren volverse expertos profesionales ni complicarse la vida, sino simplemente disfrutar de una partida competitiva sin la obligación de leer un libro de miles de páginas para aprender a usar un solo personaje, cumple de forma excelente con entretener bajo un esquema táctil y directo. Mi puntuación definitiva para este juego es un 8/10. Para mí, se consolida como el mejor sucesor espiritual de League of Legends en el formato móvil. * * * In conclusion, Mobile Legends is the perfect definition of what a casual MOBA should be. It's the ideal game for people who don't want to become professional experts or complicate their lives, but simply enjoy a competitive match without having to read a thousand-page book to learn how to use a single character. It excellently fulfills its purpose of providing entertainment through a direct, touch-based interface. My final score for this game is 8/10. For me, it stands as the best spiritual successor to League of Legends in the mobile format.
