My Christmas in monochrome (Моє чорно-біле Різдво, EN-UA)
Hello, my dears!
My mother and I joke that we now have two Christmases. Indeed, there are two days off in Ukraine: December 25 and January 7. Most people still follow the celebration in the old style, ie January 7. In any case, since mid-December, my city is dressed in festive attire, and in the central squares there is a fair where you can eat, drink and have a good time.
Привіт, мої дорогі!
Ми з мамою жартуємо, що у нас тепер два Різдва. Адже дійсно, в Україні є два вихідних дні: 25 грудня та 7 січня. Більшість людей поки що дотримуються святкування за старим стилем, тобто 7 січня. У будь-якому випадку вже зі середини грудня моє місто одягається у святкові шати, а на центральних площах з'являється ярмарок, де можна поїсти, попити і хороше походити, як у тій казці.
People are trying to celebrate. Not everyone is as happy as they would like... Rising prices for everything, unrest near the eastern borders of Ukraine, the threat of war. Lviv is on the other side of the country, but we are all Ukrainians, we are one family. And we dream of peace again and again and wish each other a peaceful sky above our heads.
Люди намагаються святкувати. Не кожному так радісно, як би хотілося... Подорожчання цін на все, неспокій біля східних кордонів України, загроза війни. Львів знаходиться на іншому кінці країни, але ми всі українці, ми одна сім'я. І ми знову і знову мріємо про мир та бажаємо один одному мирного неба над головою.
In my opinion, the only way out here is to remember what Christmas is? This is the Christian holiday of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. If you are not even a Christian, you can find your morals and your joy in Christmas history. It is a holiday of hope. And it's about the power of life.
А тим часом багато людей задурюють собі голову алкоголем і створюють ілюзію радості. На мою, думку тут єдиний вихід — це пам'ятати про те, що таке Різдво? Це християнське свято народження Ісуса Христа, сина Божого. Якщо ж ви навіть не християнин, то можете знайти свою мораль і свою радість у Різдвяній історії. Це свято про надію. І про силу життя.
