Mulatu Astatke, the Father of Ethio Jazz

In the nineties a friend of mine, she was married to a guy from Ethiopia, introduced me to his favorite music, Ethiopian Jazz.
What?
Turned out to be pretty cool stuff.

One of the biggest names, some would say the biggest, in Ethiopian Jazz, is Mulatu Astatke considered as the father of Ethio Jazz, with a career lasting from 1963 till today.

What The Girl from Ipanema is to Brazil, Girl from Addis Abeba is to Ethiopia.

Cool as fuck!

And naturally, when you are a world class artist, your music will end up in a movie.

I hope you enjoyed this little musical journey off the beaten path.

There is this idea of The Odd Action, meaning you try to do things differently on purpose to break up your daily routine, like taking a different route to work, trying new food etc.
So listening to new kinds of music also falls into this category and you do not even have to leave your laptop to do so. 😘
Listening to unfamiliar music is actually quite a good exercise for the brain and the mind, but ultimately the heart decides wether you like the music or not.
But how nice if you find something new and you like it, such an enrichment.
