I think home ownership is more of a liability than an asset any more. You can never get your cash back out because you need a place to live. By the time the mortgage is paid off the taxes take over. Rent keeps going up because anyone renting out stuff has to deal with ever increasing property taxes as well.

There's getting to be a lot of flooding around here too with some subsidence caused from coastal erosion. I'm not sure if this property is going to hold its value through my lifetime, my guess is a lot of roads may need to be moved and things rebuilt at some point.

The new crypto tax law changes have been giving me insomnia too.
