My friend and I played an easy eighteen-basket disc golf round this morning. I won with a +4 score to my friends +9. It was a bit windy, so scores were a bit higher than they usually are. When it gets windy, it is typical to take at least four more throws on an eighteen-hole course. It does depend on how hard it is blowing, though.
Sometimes it can be calm when one person is throwing and very gusty when it is someone elses turn to throw. There is a certain amount of skill involved in knowing how the wind is going to change the way the disc flies. There is also a bit of a luck factor when it gets really gusty and intermittent.
I tried out the new D4 disc, and it is not as understable as I thought it might be based on the flight numbers. I think it is going to work out nicely since it is just a bit heavier than the D3 that I lost. I hope the plastic does not get too understable as it beats in, but this is not a disc I will be reaching for to throw tight lines through trees, so it should be fine. Hitting trees on a full power drive can really beat in the disc in fast, depending on the plastic, and can make it more understable.
