My friends and I played a difficult eighteen-hole disc golf course today. It was a bit cold this morning and we got off to a slow start.
Everyone was struggling just a bit and one of my friends suggested that we start the round over. The other friend didn't want to walk all the way back to the first tee pad so we continued. By the time we got to hole four, he realized that he had left his putter disc someplace. He didn't want to go back and look for it though.
On hole six I took a seven on a par three. I was trying to play it conservatively and played a throw close into the fairway instead of taking a risk and throwing long toward the basket. My second throw went badly even though I was well-positioned for a roller. Playing out of position I had a couple of first-available tree hits and frustration issues.
After that, I figured I had better settle down a bit and played the rest of the round very well. I ended up with a +10 win which was good for me on the course. My friends finished with a +26 and +32.
I managed to stay out of the bramble bushes which is more than can be said for one of my friends. Lukily we managed to get all of the discs back except the one putter disc that was lost near the beginning of the round. We all played the first few holes over again but could not find the disc. (The scores were much better the second time around after we had warmed up a bit.)
My new discs were flying very well. I was having a lot of fun throwing the D3 Max disc. I think it is going to be a favorite of mine for long-distance drives. It is a bit more straight flying and forgiving than the Shryke disc I was using in this slot. The new Wave disc is wonderful too but I only threw it one time so far.
