My son and I played on the difficult eighteen basket pro course today. I made the suggestion to go there because we had a bit more time to play than usual. The weather was very nice and there were many people out enjoying the park and walking their dogs and riding hourses.

There was also a larger group of players who started out in front of us and let us play through. I was playing my fairly consistent bogey game with the occasional par. This is a difficult course for me so I'm mostly trying to get the disc on the fairway. My son was having a rather difficult time and did not make a lot of gaps. We ended up looking for a long time for some of his throws and felt a bit rushed with the group of players closing in on us from the rear. The walkers were also slowing us down so it was hard to really get in sync with the game.

I ended with a +16 on the eighteen which was a bit higher than I usually score and my son went higher than that which was unusual for him too. He ended up deleting the card.

At one point I was being friendly to one of the dog walkers who had a younger full sized dog that was friendly looking but very active. I offered to give the dog a treat I had in my pocket that I use to train Doggie. The larger dog did not have any interest in my treat and when the owner released the leash the dog immediately took off and went after the disc I just thrown. I was really worried about it having seen a dog chew up a disc in seconds. However, there was no problem and the dog just retrieved the disc and nicely handed it over without putting an marks on it. Whew.

This was the new Crave disc that I had just gotten from a friend and really liked a lot. It has been one of the few discs that I can actually throw reasonably straight.

The scary dog experience got me thinking tonight and I had to get a couple more Crave discs just in case something happens. (When I use a disc a lot they sometimes end up in the river and other special hard to find places.)

I think it is also nice to have several of the same type of disc because they generally fly somewhat differently depending on how beat in they are and how they were made and this can be helpful to really dial in your throw.

It can be nice for field work too to try throwing the same mold on different angles and see how your technique modifies the flight.
