It's week one hundred and eight [WE108] of #weekend-engagement and the this entry is made in response to the question below.
You're spending the weekend totally alone between Friday night and Sunday night. What do you do, where do you go, if anywhere, and why? Explain your answers.
Weekend is a time of the week that I always look up to. It's such a period that I have time for myself and not the usual work thoughts that fills my heart in weekdays. There are many activities that keep me busy. These activities ranges from exercises, cleaning, shopping to resting.
Spending the weekend alone between Friday night and Saturday night will be filled with a whole lots of fun.
On Fridays, I use to return back home from work at about 1 p.m. and I don't really have anywhere to go again for the day. What I do is to take a nap and get up in the evening. I take my bath and prepare my favourite starch food to eat.
After eating, I will spent time on my phone to check my twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts. I devote time also to check hive community to engage with others if there is no post for me to be made. I do this till around 10 p.m. before taking a light food like tea and go to bed.
Early morning of Saturday, I leave home quickly to join other civilians and soldiers to participate in a 8 km road walk within the premises of the main campus of Nigeria military University, Nigerian Defence Academy. It's a weekly activity carried out every Saturday between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. for both civilian staff and military personnel in the University. I am a civilian staff. Some soldiers on a truck play bands to keep the walking lively. I always look up to it because the benefits to my fitness is enormous.
Before 10 a.m., I am back home from the walk. I will take my bath, eat my breakfast and turn on my television to watch some movies for few hours. At this juncture, I sleep for a while to keep my mental fitness. The sleeping can be as short as less than an hour. I will then go out to get some fruits before darkness envelope the atmosphere. Before going to bed, I will checkout my phone to know what's trending on my social media accounts and also simultaneously visit hive community.
Sunday is my full day at home, I hardly go out. In the morning, I gather my clothes and do the laundry. Polishing my shoes in preparation for the new week isn't left out. The cleaning continues into rearranging every necessary things in the house, mop and clean everywhere in the house.
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.-Charles W. Eliot
The next on my to-do list for Sunday is reading a book.
Just like Charles posited above, reading is my way of getting counselings. I look out for a book that is in line with my mood and read to keep moving. In the evening, I will go out to get a plate of fish and some drinks to send it down my oesophagus.
Heeey, weekend is over!
I will go to bed relatively early on Sunday to rest and wake up 5 a.m. to get prepared for Monday work.
