THE INDESTRUCTIBLE ALUM BATTERY
It may mean a lot to you if you read my previous post regarding the offgrid forum heroes, link below.
One of the most important component for the JOULESTEEM circuit is the battery designated as the “source” and the “charge”. With one of the main aim of such circuit to become a sturdy and reliable lighting engine, the batteries involved should possess qualities that one can really say extra-ORDINARY. Well, in my opinion, this is even an understatement.
The maestro John Bedini introduced the offgrid forums to such approach, giving all information necessary for any person to make his own from scratch (as in make your own battery!!!) or just convert the ones already sold at the shelves. Here he is below pictured in one of his many forum discussions:
I go the second approach (the buying on the shelves), easier, much faster, more quality (as the manufacturer already made sure it is!)
THE EXTRAORDINARY QUALITIES OF AN ALUM BATTERY
It is of no use spending our time and effort for such an important component as the battery if our aim is not for more than 100 percent efficiency overall. We have to make sure that the battery being used will display such qualities as well, and maybe even more. As John Bedini always hinted about the ALUM battery, “the overunity is in the batteries!”.
Let me list the very good qualities of the ALUM battery (I saw these myself):
-indestructible when “over-discharged”, even shorting both leads to zero volts
-indestructible when “over-charged”, just do not burn the battery to the ground with a million volts
-exhibits constant CCA (cold-cranking amps) when working from 12 volts down to 9 volts
-seems to capture more the atmospheric energy as described by Nikola Tesla
-indestructible on cars (as long as water is present); I helped a few people convert their car batteries, a two-year lifespan battery is now more than four years running with no noticeable degradation in CCA
-can be stored for a very long time; some people stored it during winter, and after how many months cranked their trucks with it directly from storage
-if stored so long and it self-drained, just charge it and it will come back to life
-charge much quicker the more charge-discharge cycles it is subjected into
-with a non-destructive liquid; ALUM-EPSOM is non-acidic and does not give off deadly fumes
An INDESTRUCTIBLE battery guaranteed, unless you call BATMAN If you can clearly understand what I mean.
TEACH ME HOW TO CONVERT MY LEAD ACID BATTERY
OK this is the part now where I am going to teach you how. I would like to be clear that in this part of my tutorial howtos, I combined the maestro’s invention in the ALUM battery with another offgrid user’s good experiments, and his name his “HARTIBERLIN”. I think he is German, and one honest-to-goodness backyard experimenter as well.
John Bedini said “use aluminum sulfate” while hartiberlin described “use aluminum sulfate and add a bit of magnesium sulfate”. Hmmm, the explorer in me told myself “time to see it with your own eyes”. Described below are my own experiences, and of course my own formula. Don’t worry these are all tested working as described above in extraordinary terms.
How to convert a lead-acid battery into an alum-epsom battery (notice now mine has the word epsom from hartiberlin concept!!!) including the needed preparations as per my own experiences:
-1. Buy a new lead-acid battery for your car (just make sure it is the maintenance-free type but can be opened easily with hidden caps). Let us just say we need the 50 Ah middle-sized battery to be more precise in our example.
-2. Best for these types of lead-acid to cycle first on your car so that the car electricity will condition the plates; most preferably from one to two weeks. Better, if your present car battery is still good, then remove your present car battery, replace it with your newly bought one, then use the old car battery that is still good for our conversion procedures. Don’t worry, after the conversion your old car battery will outlive the new car battery up to three times minimum maybe, probably even your car will be outlived by your converted battery, wink wink.
-3. Open the caps of the lead-acid battery (6 caps total) and pour the liquid content inside into a bucket with large mouth. Now, the pouring should be in two batches, the first pour will only be up to the point where the liquid is still clear (maybe up to 75 percent of the volume), the last batch of dirty liquid that is a bit murky already should be poured on a separate bucket. The clear liquid should be kept for later use, save it in a plastic container. The murky liquid is acidic and full of lead, so dispose of it properly as per your locality’s established laws.
-4. You are left now with a lighter battery because it has no liquid content anymore. Pour about 300 milli-LITERS of “distilled” water into each hole (so 300 mL multiplied by 6 holes); this is for the rinsing part. Shake the battery with the rinsing water and make sure to pour it into the bucket of dirty liquid as poured earlier. You can observe that the rinsing action will carry with it more dirty and murky liquid. If you have lots of distilled water, you can do this rinsing action up to three times for a thorough cleansing. In my experience, the drinking water bottled as the brand ABSOLUTE is a perfect water for this conversion, both as the main component liquid and as the cleansing liquid.
-5. Buy for yourself some common chemicals, you need 450 milligrams of “aluminum sulfate” and 75 milligrams “magnesium sulfate”. Common name for aluminum sulfate is ALUM (the chemical that people swipe into their armpits to make it good smelling, tsktsktsk). Common name for magnesium sulfate is EPSOM salt (the one used by beauty tip experts in their “bathe here so that you will look much nicer” ads). Very common chemicals really.
-6. Mix both chemicals in a container that you can heat a bit later, a stainless cooking pot is best. After mixing both chemicals (6 parts ALUM and 1 part EPSOM if you can clearly observe), pour 1800 milli-LITER (300 mL multiplied by 6 holes) of distilled water into the mix and stir until the ALUM-EPSOM mix is dissolved. You can add a little heat while stirring the pot, no boiling here please just slight heating to dissolve the chemicals.
-7. When the chemicals are completely dissolved as per step #6, pour 300 mL of the liquid (this is now ALUM-EPSOM-WATER mix) in each hole of the battery. I expect there will be a liquid mix remaining if you follow the 300 mL per hole strictly, the remaining liquid you can pour into a plastic container so that you can then distribute it to the 6 holes, as evenly as your human estimates can bring you. Good enough, you already made sure each hole receive 300 mL earlier.
-8. Here is some secret for you in this step, because this part is very much vague in the forums, but I can assure you one of the most important. You need to add back into this newly converted battery the clean lead-acid that you poured earlier. The liquid ratio should be two-thirds ALUM-EPSOM liquid to one-third LEAD-ACID liquid. You just made 300 mL ALUM-EPSOM per hole earlier, so you need to add into each hole of the newly converted battery about 150 mL, 900 mL total. For the LEAD-ACID liquid, use the clean liquid as poured out earlier from the battery. Close the battery caps after this step.
-9. You now have an ALUM-EPSOM-LEAD-ACID battery, a term you can not anymore see at the forums. This newly converted battery will never self-destruct, will get back to life even if short-circuited in its two leads, can be stored for a very long time, and if drained during storage, will just go back to life when charged. The most important behavior for this battery as used by the JOULESTEEM circuit is its ability to deliver the same CCA all throughout its voltage cycle, which can only mean it is very efficient.
As these steps will greatly enhance the lead-acid battery that is clearly designed to self-destruct after two years, you have now just seen for yourself another proof that there is always another way of doing things as given to us by the so-called learned corporations of our society. You alone have the best and perfect way to everything that will mean much to you, not them, not me either.
Nobody has the monopoly of knowledge, how much more your real FREEDOM.
