At Photokina 2018 Panasonic presented non-working prototypes, promising finished product by the early 2019. So far it looks they are designed much better than Canon and Nikon mirrorless FF models. Panasonic was a leader in video segment, so these models bring World’s first native support for 4K 60p video recording in a full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera. As they have a professional designation, they have dual slots, they are built around Leica L mount, and have full weather protection.
What about lenses? That’s the best news — strategic alliance is announced around three optical gigants: Leica, Sigma and Panasonic. You won’t miss the glass :)
Panasonic promised 10 lenses by the end of 2020. For a starters, there will be 50 mm/F1.4 fixed-focus lens, 24-105 mm standard zoom lens, and 70-200 mm telephoto zoom lens.
And if you have micro four thirds system, don’t be afraid — Panasonic won’t leave R&D in that format. They have announced another gem: LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25 mm F1.7 lens that will achieve the world’s first zoom with maximum aperture of F1.7 for the entire range.
