Well, after this pompous title, I have to admit that at first, when I signed up for this long photo-travel with few more friends of mine, I didn't know it would later turn into spiritual too.
Of course, I had heard about the mystical Meteora in Greece before that but as at this time in my life I was struggling with other personal issues, I was satisfied with only taking a look at some photos of other travelers I found online.
Thus this journey that took a few days started with no big expectations, moreover, when you travel with photo-purposes together with more than 30 other people, also passionate about photography, you don't expect to create "unique" photographs but rather expect to learn something new, meet new people to inspire you, or you inspire someone else, or both :) and generally, enjoy the company. Which I did, in some extent. Nevertheless, due to the vast nature of this sacred place, I really did create some unique photographs, despite my expectations!
Our first stop, for a few hours break, food and some city photography was Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. I gotta say, if street photography is your thing, you may find a lot of "material" here and my feeling was people don't mind much being photographed by strangers...
Probably the most pleasant part of this city break was to walk on the boulevard by the sea with the views to the White Tower. Don't miss visiting the Museum of Photography at the same boulevard, close to the sea port ;)
Here are few more street details that captured my attention:
Compressing the time and after a few hundreds of kilometers in the bus, talking with my friends and of course, having some short naps, we finally arrived at the main destination, Meteora.
The next few days were full of walking, visiting the monasteries, enjoying the amazing unique nature and dipping into the spirituality of this scared place!
The huge monasteries, built by the hands of the relentless monks, "landed" on top of giant cliffs, embracing the clouds and the blue skies.
Even the dropping water there was magical :)
I hope you've enjoyed visiting the place virtually with me :)
