The bluethroat is a small passerine bird and is found in all over Pakistan. This bird travels with weather change to central Punjab, Margalla Islamabad, and even in Balochistan. This is a beautiful bird having different color rings in which blue is prominent. I searched this bird all over Punjab but could not find it. After two to three years of search, finally, I saw this bird in Banigala, Islamabad. The bird was a little away but I was very happy to see him. After this every year I meet this beauty at this same spot.
The bluethroat male and female both are beautiful. But males have more color rings and these color rings also show their age. Young bluethroat has dull color rings. The Female has a black color ring.
The bluethroat is a songbird. In breeding season males sit on a high branch and sing songs. Mostly they sing in the morning. They are mostly found on the ground hopping and searching for food. It needs a lot of patience to photograph them as they travel into thick bushes.
