I found out about this super community which I found very interesting, to share experiences with other people who like to do the same.
Now I introduce myself: my name is Elemir. I have an uncommon name since I am from Venezuela, and here it is quite normal for parents or grandparents to invent combinations of names of family members. And well, that's how mine came out. Its creator: my grandmother. She was very creative, she liked painting, writing poetry, and of course, making up names. She came up with the idea that my name should be a combination of my mother's name (Elena) and the "Mir", because in my family there are names with this syllable: Mir-angel, Mir-onova and Vladi-mir. Therefore, Ele-mir was chosen.
A very curious anecdote is that when I was a child I had some Arab neighbors, and they told us that in their language my name meant "The Prince", like "The Emir" of the Arab Emirates, so unwittingly and unknowingly, my grandmother gave me a name of someone important in those countries.
Hola a todos los amigos de la comunidad de Hive, les saludo y deseo se encuentren muy bien. Me enteré de esta súper comunidad la cual me pareció muy interesante, para compartir experiencias vividas con otras personas que les gusta hacer lo mismo.
Ahora sí, me presento: mi Nombre es Elemir. Tengo un nombre poco común ya que soy de Venezuela, y aquí es bastante normal que los padres o abuelos inventen combinaciones de nombres de integrantes de la familia. Y bueno, de esa manera sale el mío. Su creadora: mi abuela. Ella era muy creativa, le gustaba pintar, escribir poesía, y por supuesto, construir nombres. Se le ocurrió que mi nombre debía ser una combinación del nombre mi mamá (Elena) y llevar el “Mir”, ya que en mi familia existen nombres con esta sílaba: Mir-angel, Mir-onova y Vladi-mir. Por lo tanto, Ele-mir fue el elegido.
Una anécdota muy curiosa, es que de pequeña tenía unos vecinos árabes, y nos dijeron que en su idioma mi nombre significaba “El Príncipe”, como “El Emir” de los Emiratos Árabes, así que sin quererlo y saberlo, mi abuela me otorgó un nombre de alguien importante en esos países.
I currently live in Venezuela, specifically in Margarita Island, land of lots of sun, beach and sand. I have been here for 1 year since I arrived, because I lived in Chile, a beautiful country that welcomed me and treated me very well, left me many experiences, memories, friends and many more beautiful things. But as the saying goes: every good son, always comes back home; and so yes, after 8 years away, I came back... Mostly because of nostalgia, nostalgia for my land, my food and especially my family.
Actualmente vivo en Venezuela, específicamente en la Isla de Margarita, tierra de mucho sol, playa y arena. Llevo 1 año desde que llegué, porque vivía en Chile, un hermoso país que me acogió y me trató muy bien, me dejó muchas experiencias, recuerdos, amigos y muchas más cosas bonitas. Pero como dice el dicho: todo buen hijo, siempre vuelve a casa; y pues sí, luego de 8 años fuera, volví… Mayormente por nostalgia, nostalgia por mi tierra, mi comida y sobre todo mi familia.
I like to know new places and travel as much as I can. Open my eyes one day and say: let's go wherever the road takes us, drive and let the destination guide me. I love the beach, listening to the waves, seeing its immensity, the colors and the peace it transmits, and to tell the truth, one of the reasons why I came to live on this island, is precisely because I felt that I was at the moment where my body was asking for it, and now I can also take advantage of so many activities, landscapes and many other things that living surrounded by water gives me, is to be able to share with you my experiences here.
Me gusta conocer nuevos lugares y viajar lo que más pueda. Abrir los ojos un día y decir: vamos por donde nos lleve la vía, conducir y que el destino me guíe. Me encanta la playa, escuchar las olas, ver su inmensidad, los colores y la paz que transmite, y a decir verdad, uno de los motivos por los cuales me vine a vivir en esta isla, es precisamente porque sentía que estaba en el momento en donde mi cuerpo me lo pedía, y ahora además puedo aprovechar tantas actividades, paisajes y muchas cosas más que me regala el hecho de vivir rodeada de agua, es poder compartir con ustedes mis vivencias aquí.
But I must also say that I really like the countryside, I have lived surrounded by trees, watching horses walking free, rabbits running everywhere, and I loved that daily landscape. Like the sea, the countryside is a lot of nature, clean air, that anyone coming from a big city, could enjoy because of its purity, free of pollution in general. I must admit that I am somewhat nomadic and I only like to stay a short time in one place, and then move to a new one, in fact in my stay in Chile, I lived in 3 different cities: Santiago de Chile (the capital), Quilpué (which is 2 hours and a half from Santiago) and Olmué (a small town that is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Santiago), which for me, is the most beautiful town and with the most beautiful people I met there.
Pero también debo decir que me gusta mucho el campo, he vivido rodeada de árboles, viendo caballos caminar libres, conejos corriendo por todos lados, y amaba ese paisaje diario. Al igual que el mar, el campo es mucha naturaleza, aire limpio, que cualquier persona que viene de una gran ciudad, podría disfrutar debido a su pureza, libre de contaminación en general. Debo admitir que soy algo nómada y solo me gusta estar poco tiempo en en un mismo lugar, para luego irme a otro nuevo, de hecho en mi estancia en Chile, viví en 3 ciudades distintas: Santiago de Chile (la capital), Quilpué (que está a 2 horas y media de Santiago) y Olmué (un pueblito que está a 1 hora y 45 minutos aproximadamente de Santiago), que para mí, es el pueblito más lindo y con la gente más hermosa que conocí allá.
I am an architect by profession, and one of the things I like or would like to dedicate myself to is remodeling homes and apartments. Currently I do not do that, because I am in charge of a construction, which is the beginning of a project, a lot of concrete and dust. One of my greatest achievements was precisely the construction of the attic of my apartment, which is the one that appears in the photo, that second level of wood that you can see. From the first moment I sat down at the computer, it became my goal, and I am one of those people who do not like to leave things half done. I designed it and with help, I was able to build it with my own hands. Thanks to that I can say that women are certainly very capable of doing these tasks if we set our minds to it.
Soy de profesión Arquitecta, y una de las cosas que más me gusta o me gustaría dedicarme es a remodelar viviendas y departamentos. Actualmente no hago eso, porque estoy encargada de una construcción, que es el inicio de un proyecto, mucho concreto y polvo. Uno de mis mayores logros, fue precisamente la construcción del ático de mi departamento, que es el que aparece en la foto, ese segundo nivel de madera que pueden ver. Desde el primer momento que me senté en la computadora, se volvió mi meta, y yo soy de las personas que no me gusta dejar las cosas a media. Lo diseñé y con ayuda, pude construirlo con mis propias manos. Gracias a eso puedo decir que las mujeres sin duda somos muy capaces de realizar estas tareas si nos las proponemos.
I experienced the physical pain and effort that such a job requires, but with a lot of happiness and illusion. I started it in September and by December it was ready, but I will tell you more about that process later. Another hobby I have is drawing, people or animals, although I have never studied art, I think I am good at it.
Viví el dolor físico y el esfuerzo que un trabajo así amerita, pero con mucha felicidad e ilusión. Lo inicié en septiembre y ya para diciembre estaba listo, pero ya luego les contaré más sobre ese proceso. Otro pasatiempo que tengo es dibujar, personas o animales, a pesar que nunca he estudiado arte, creo que se me da bien.
And another of my passions are dogs, yes, I am a dog lover, I am one of those who think that they are angels who come to accompany us for a short time to give us happiness thanks to their intense way of loving. I have had many pets, mostly Schnauzer, because the first one I had, was given to me as a gift and it was wonderful, although the one you see in the picture would be my fourth blessing.

Y otra de mis pasiones son los perros, sí, soy amante de los perros, soy de las que piensa que ellos son ángeles que vienen a acompañarnos por un tiempo corto para darnos felicidad gracias a su manera tan intensa de amar. He tenido muchas mascotas, en su mayoría Schnauzer, porque la primera que tuve, me la regalaron y fue maravillosa, aunque la que ven en la foto ya sería mi cuarta bendición.
