Every child loves his father but not each one of them can call him his hero or a role model. i look up to my father as my role model who has been there throughout my life and supported and guided me in every life stage.
As a kid, my dad thought us the importance of a clean and healthy environment by alway talking the lead whenever there is a clean up exercise in my street. why others will shy away or dulge from such work, my dad will single handedly clean everything and sometimes we even get mad at him for doing work that 3- 4 people suppose to do.
Event that changed my life and thought me a valuable lesson
It was early tuesday morning, 15 years ago, around 6am. everyone was preparing for work while parents where preparing their kids for school. something strange happened, we saw a huge poo in our passage. we dont know who did it, everyone now change direction and started leaving through the backyard. my Dad took courage, asked me to get detergent, water and broom. we were not happy about that at first. dad single handedly clean the passage that very day. later in the night, he called us and said "Someone who doesn't like a dirty thing is someone that sees it and removes it not someone that sees it and overlooked it" its 15 years now but i can Still remember every single thing he said that day. i love my dad
A man who lead by example
On Sunday 1st june 2025, my dad showed me why he is being nickname (nwoke umukalika) a name in igbo that describe him as a strong man. i wasn't feeling fine that morning so i woke up late only to see my dad clearing bushes with machete. at first i was ashamed. i cant be here while he do such work, but my health failed me. i had to rush inside and get a reck and start cleaning those places. i love that experience working side by side with my dad. hopefully oneday, i will make him smile by Gods grace. he's the only man that will not tell you. " Do as i say not as i do" he leads by example and I'm proud to have not just a dad, but a father.
