It took me several months of research to find an abandoned bridge like this one. Either there are no more rails on the bridge or the bridge is closed or in danger of collapsing. First I explored the bridge in daylight. Unfortunately, you can't get close to the bridge by car. From the car park it's about 2km on foot. The bridge is in the middle of nowhere. So I had to keep my luggage to a "minimum" 馃槀. In our case, it was still 20 or 30 kg.
Es hat einige Monate Recherche gebraucht bis ich eine verlassene Br眉cke wie diese gefunden habe. Entweder liegen keine Schienen mehr auf der Br眉cke oder die Br眉cke ist gesperrt oder einsturzgef盲hrdet. Zuerst habe ich die Br眉cke bei Tageslicht erkundet. Leider kommt man nicht mit dem Auto nah an die Br眉cke. Vom Parkplatz sind das ca. 2km zu Fu脽. Die Br眉cke liegt mitten im Nirgendwo. Also hie脽 es das Gep盲ck auf ein "Minimum" zu beschr盲nken 馃槀. In unserem Fall waren das dann aber immernoch 20 oder 30 kg.

On our first visit, Jennifer was there as our model and Dominic as our assistant. Jennifer stood on the bridge during the entire exposure, Dominic operated the camera. First I lit Jennifer with a self-made scanner. Then I walked along the entire bridge with the backlight scanner. The 馃敠 Fenix LR35R with 馃暥 10,000 lumens and a light blue colour filter were in the back light scanner. In the next step, I illuminated the bridge from front to back with a KDLitker E6 with three red 660nm LEDs. This is the second attempt. The bridge is 60 metres long. More attempts would not have been much fun.
Bei unserem ersten Besuch waren Jennifer als unser Model und Dominic als Assistent dabei. Jennifer stand w盲hrend der gesamten Belichtung auf der Br眉cke, Dominic bediente die Kamera. Zuerst habe ich Jennifer mit einem selbst gebauten Scanner eingeleuchtet. Im Anschluss bin ich mit dem Back Light Scanner die gesamte Br眉cke entlang gelaufen. Im Back Light Scanner steckte die Fenix 馃敠 LR35R mit 馃暥 10000 Lumen und ein hellblauer Farbfilter. Im n盲chsten Schritt habe ich mit einer KDLitker E6 mit drei roten 660nm Led's die Br眉cke von vorne nach hinten beleuchtet. Dieses ist der zweite Versuch. Die Br眉cke ist 60 Meter lang. Noch mehr Versuche h盲tten nicht wirklich Spa脽 gemacht.

No train has been running on the bridge since 1991. So don't worry, we were in no danger. I had the locomotive in my jacket pocket, it is in 1:87 scale. I placed the locomotive on tripod number 1. Tripod number 2 was in the middle of the bridge as in the first picture. I then aligned tripod number 3 exactly with the locomotive so that it was standing exactly on the tracks in the finished picture. That doesn't just sound complicated, it was. When everything was right, I lit the locomotive with the Emisar D4V2 at the lowest setting, switched the camera to tripod number 2, focused from close to infinity, changed the focal length from 35mm to 17mm and then lit the bridge with the 馃敠 Fenix LR35R. The last step was to light the rails with the Emisar D4V2, this time at the brightest level.
Auf der Br眉cke f盲hrt schon seit 1991 kein Zug mehr. Also keine Angst, wir waren nicht in Gefahr. Die Lokomotive hatte ich in der Jackentasche, sie ist im Ma脽stab 1:87. Die Lok platzierte ich auf Stativ Nummer 1. Stativ Nummer 2 stand in der Mitte der Br眉cke wie beim ersten Bild. Stativ Nummer 3 richtete ich dann exakt so auf die Lok aus, dass diese dann im fertigen Bild genau auf den Gleisen steht. Das klingt nicht nur kompliziert, das war es auch. Als alles passte leuchtete ich die Lok mit der Emisar D4V2 in der kleinsten Stufe ein, wechselste die Kamera auf Stativ Nummer 2, fokussierte von nah auf unendlich, ver盲nderte die Brennweite von 35mm auf 17mm und leuchtete dann mit der 馃敠 Fenix LR35R die Br眉cke aus. Als letzten Schritt beleuchtete ich noch die Schienen mit der Emisar D4V2, diesmal in der hellsten Stufe.
This picture is actually a failed attempt because the dorky light painter didn't focus properly. When I saw the picture later on the computer, I actually liked the ghost train quite a lot. That's why I like to show the failed attempt here.
Dieses Bild ist eigentlich ein Fehlversuch weil der trottlige Light Painter nicht richtig fokussiert hat. Als ich das Bild dann sp盲ter am Computer gesehen hab, gefiel mir der Ghost Train aber eigentlich ganz gut. Deshalb zeige ich den Fehversuch hier gerne.
A back light scanner is a tool to paint back light into the light painting without the light source itself being visible in the picture. Crazy, isn't it? The original idea came from our esteemed colleague Pala Teth. Watch his tutorial video here:
My version comes from the 3D printer. Mostly the "fat" 馃敠 Fenix LR35R or, unfortunately no longer available, the 馃敠 Fenix FD65 is in the scanner. The Back Light Scanner has a holder for round acrylic colour filters.
Ein Back Light Scanner ist ein Tool um Gegenlicht ins Light Painting zu malen, ohne dass die Lichtquelle selbst im Bild sichtbar ist. Verr眉ckt, oder? Die urspr眉ngliche Idee stammt vom gesch盲tzten Kollegen Pala Teth. Meine Version stammt aus dem 3D Drucker. Meist steckt die dicke 馃敠 Fenix LR35R oder, die leider nicht mehr erh盲ltliche, 馃敠 Fenix FD65 im Scanner. Der Back Light Scanner hat eine Aufnahme f眉r runde Acryl Farbfilter.
