It is apparent that the "new" with even the slightest chance of death focuses the mind among many. How else to explain the radical shift towards anti-social behavior and despite risk being relatively low except for those advanced in age and already suffering from other disease. Fascinating.
In the past few weeks there has been a concerted effort to amp up the "you will die" propaganda across most media platforms. Interestingly there really has been no clear rebuttal of "likely 80% of those infected will be asymptomatic or very mild symptoms, of the 20% remaining only 3% will end up requiring hospitalization and only a very small number of those will meet with catastrophe (death). It is likely casualty rates (CR) will be sub-1%. There is risk but in the big picture of life there are a lot of other ways you might die.
You might wonder why we see CR's of 3.4%, 5%, 10.6% etc being reported in the media... simple... the datasets are incomplete... very few of the asymptomatic are being captured in the data as testing is mostly being limited to those with clear symptoms although that is changing slowly.
There are some voices of truth that can be heard on independent and open information sites; one of my favorites e.g www.zerohedge.com .
You might find this article by John P.A. Ioannidis of Stanford University interesting: https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/17/a-fiasco-in-the-making-as-the-coronavirus-pandemic-takes-hold-we-are-making-decisions-without-reliable-data/ .
Still walking the dog and going to get groceries and pick up take-out dining for the family while watching the "panic" with great fascination.
