Hay libros que disfrutamos mientras los leemos y que permanecen con nosotros mucho tiempo después de haber llegado a la última página. A veces una frase, una emoción o una enseñanza, pero siempre hay algo que hace que una historia siga ocupando un lugar especial en nosotros. Sin embargo, no he podido disfrutar mucho del placer del tacto de las hojas al leer, y de ver una estantería llena de todas las historias que he leido pues mis lecturas suelen ser de manera digital.
Por eso decidí comenzar esta serie llamada Mi Biblioteca en Miniatura, un proyecto personal en el que reuniré de una manera muy especial las lecturas que más me han marcado. Cada libro que forme parte de esta colección tendrá su propio espacio en una pequeña estantería, convirtiéndose en un recordatorio de las historias, personajes y reflexiones que me acompañaron durante la lectura y que hicieron muy especial cada momento.
Para inaugurar esta biblioteca no podía elegir otro título que Boulevard, de Flor M. Salvador, una novela que conocí cuando todavía circulaba ampliamente entre los lectores de Wattpad y que logró sorprenderme de una manera que pocas historias juveniles han conseguido.
Lo primero que me atrapó de esta novela fue la relación entre sus protagonistas, Hasley y Luke. Aunque en apariencia puede parecer una historia romántica juvenil, a medida que avanzan los capítulos queda claro que la autora intenta abordar temas mucho más profundos que una simple historia de amor. La construcción de los personajes permite apreciar cómo cada uno carga con sus propias heridas, inseguridades y conflictos personales, elementos que terminan influyendo en todas las decisiones que toman.
Uno de los aspectos que más disfruté durante la lectura fue la forma en que la novela consigue generar una conexión emocional con los personajes. Es fácil comprender los sentimientos de Hasley, sus ilusiones y sus deseos de ayudar a quienes ama. Del mismo modo, Luke es un personaje que despierta muchas emociones encontradas porque detrás de su actitud se esconden problemas que afectan profundamente su forma de relacionarse con el mundo y consigo mismo.
Más allá del romance, considero que uno de los mensajes más importantes de Boulevard es que no siempre conocemos las batallas que libran las personas que nos rodean.
La novela invita a reflexionar sobre la importancia de la empatía, sobre cómo nuestras acciones pueden influir en la vida de otros y sobre la necesidad de prestar atención a quienes atraviesan momentos difíciles aunque intenten ocultarlo.
Otro tema que me pareció especialmente relevante es la manera en que la historia aborda las consecuencias de ciertas decisiones y cómo algunas situaciones dejan huellas que no desaparecen fácilmente. A través de sus personajes, la autora muestra que el amor puede convertirse en un refugio importante, pero también nos recuerda que existen problemas que requieren algo más que buenas intenciones para ser superados.
Sin revelar detalles importantes para quienes aún no han leído la novela, debo decir que uno de los aspectos que más recuerdo son los giros que ocurren hacia el final de la historia. Durante gran parte de la lectura pensé que sabía hacia dónde se dirigían los acontecimientos, pero la autora consiguió sorprenderme y provocar una mezcla de emociones que hicieron que el desenlace quedará marcado en mi memoria.
Entre las frases que decidí conservar en esta primera incorporación de la colección se encuentran algunas que representan muy bien la esencia de la historia. Más que simples citas, para mí funcionan como pequeños recordatorios de los sentimientos que experimenté durante la lectura y de las reflexiones que me dejó cada capítulo.
Algo que también me parece interesante es que, después de haber conquistado a millones de lectores, Boulevard ha dado el salto a la gran pantalla. Precisamente por eso quise comenzar esta serie con este título. Aun no he tenido la ocasión de poder ver la adaptación que hicieron y tengo mucha curiosidad por descubrir si la logrará transmitir las mismas emociones que encontré en sus páginas y si conseguirá capturar la esencia de unos personajes que tantos lectores llegamos a apreciar.
Con esta primera incorporación queda oficialmente inaugurada mi Biblioteca en Miniatura. Espero que esta colección siga creciendo con nuevas historias, nuevos personajes y nuevas enseñanzas que merezcan un lugar en este pequeño rincón literario.
Y ahora me gustaría conocer su opinión. ¿Han leído Boulevard? ¿Qué les pareció la historia y sus personajes? Además, me encantaría que me recomendaran algún libro que consideren imprescindible. There are books that we enjoy while reading them and that remain with us long after reaching the last page. Sometimes a phrase, an emotion, or a lesson, but there is always something that makes a story continue to hold a special place within us. However, I have not been able to enjoy much the pleasure of the feel of the pages while reading, and of seeing a shelf full of all the stories that I have read, since my readings are usually digital.
That is why I decided to start this series called My Miniature Library, a personal project in which I will bring together, in a very special way, the readings that have left the greatest mark on me. Each book that becomes part of this collection will have its own space on a small shelf, becoming a reminder of the stories, characters, and reflections that accompanied me during the reading and that made every moment very special.
To inaugurate this library, I could not choose any other title than Boulevard, by Flor M. Salvador, a novel that I discovered when it was still widely circulating among Wattpad readers and that managed to surprise me in a way that few young adult stories have managed to do. The first thing that captivated me about this novel was the relationship between its protagonists, Hasley and Luke. Although at first it may seem like a young adult romance, as the chapters progress it becomes clear that the author tries to address much deeper themes than a simple love story. The development of the characters allows us to appreciate how each one carries their own wounds, insecurities, and personal conflicts, elements that end up influencing every decision they make. One of the aspects I enjoyed most during the reading was the way the novel manages to create an emotional connection with the characters. It is easy to understand Hasley's feelings, her hopes, and her desire to help those she loves. Likewise, Luke is a character who awakens many conflicting emotions because behind his attitude there are problems that deeply affect the way he relates to the world and to himself. Beyond the romance, I consider that one of the most important messages of Boulevard is that we do not always know the battles that the people around us are fighting.
The novel invites us to reflect on the importance of empathy, on how our actions can influence the lives of others, and on the need to pay attention to those who are going through difficult times even when they try to hide it.
Another theme that I found especially relevant is the way the story addresses the consequences of certain decisions and how some situations leave marks that do not disappear easily. Through her characters, the author shows that love can become an important refuge, but she also reminds us that there are problems that require more than good intentions to be overcome.
Without revealing important details for those who have not yet read the novel, I must say that one of the aspects I remember most are the twists that occur toward the end of the story. For much of the reading I thought I knew where the events were heading, but the author managed to surprise me and provoke a mixture of emotions that made the ending remain marked in my memory.
Among the phrases I decided to preserve in this first addition to the collection are some that represent the essence of the story very well. More than simple quotes, for me they function as little reminders of the feelings I experienced during the reading and of the reflections that each chapter left me with.
Something else that I also find interesting is that, after having captivated millions of readers, Boulevard has made the leap to the big screen. Precisely for that reason I wanted to start this series with this title. I have not yet had the opportunity to see the adaptation they made and I am very curious to discover if it will manage to convey the same emotions that I found in its pages and if it will succeed in capturing the essence of characters that so many readers came to appreciate.
With this first addition, my Miniature Library is officially inaugurated. I hope this collection continues to grow with new stories, new characters, and new lessons that deserve a place in this little literary corner.
