I thank God for the privilege given to me to be part of yesterday's Mass Indoctrination service on zoom. Every meeting held zoom has been a blessing.
In yesterday's teaching,I learnt about man;how man is configured and the type of heart that man posesses. Man has natural desire which doesn't capture the desire to long or follow after God. He is always attracted by natural things and is less concerned about the things that pertains to God. But it is important to say at this point that man can do nothing without God. Let's see Act 17:28
'For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Act 17:28
Inspite of mans desire to go his way without God,God still wants man. He expects that his affections be set on the things above and not on the things beneath as all the things here can't profit man nor secure him a place in eternity and that why the scripture says in
Col 3:2
'Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Col 3:2.
We also talked about different type of heart that man has in the parable spoken of by Jesus. The book of Matt.13:3- 8 best explains it. He said a sower went to sow seeds and the seed fell on different locations which are;
(a) The way side
(b) On Rocky ground
(c) On Thorns
(d) On good soil.
All the location mentioned here is a type of heart and the seed sown is the word of God. The book of Luke 8:11- 15 now gave us further insight into how these heart reacted to the seed (word) sown.
The way side is a type of heart that heard the world but the word was not retained because the devil came to steal it immediately because it was exposed.
The rock is a type of heart that received the word with joy but when temptation rose up against it,the word was taken away because it had no depth to flourish
The thorns is a type of heart that heard the word and received it with joy,it proceeded with the word but when the cares of life came,it chocked the word and the word couldn't flourish.
The good soil is a kind of heart that received the word and kept it. This is a honest and a good heart which profited with the word and brought forth fruits with patience.
The good soil should be the heart every man should desire. However God made a provision for those with a heart that is struggling to retain the word...a provision for a Stony and hard heart. We can see that in Ezekiel 36:26
'A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.Ezekiel 36:26
He said He will give us a new heart and a new spirit and will take aways the Stony and heart and replace it with the heart of flesh. Hallelujah,what a might God we serve.
