A Street Scene on Restaurant Glass
These two photos were taken at La Costa restaurant, in the Playa area of Matanzas. While looking at the glass of the restaurant, I noticed that it was reflecting the houses across the street, while a car was passing by at that exact moment.

I liked the way the reflection brought together elements that normally belong to different spaces. The houses appeared on the glass as if they were part of the restaurant, while the moving car added a little sense of movement to an otherwise quiet scene.

Las casas aparecían sobre el cristal como si formaran parte del restaurante, mientras el automóvil en movimiento aportaba un poco de dinamismo a una escena que de otra manera habría sido bastante tranquila.»
Reflections like this can make an ordinary street look different for a moment. Instead of photographing the houses directly, I found myself looking at them through the glass, where the real scene and its reflection came together in the same frame.
«Reflejos como este pueden hacer que una calle cotidiana se vea diferente por un momento. En lugar de fotografiar directamente las casas, terminé observándolas a través del cristal, donde la escena real y su reflejo se unieron dentro del mismo encuadre.»
I especially liked that the passing car became part of the photograph almost by chance. It was only there for a few seconds, but it helped make the reflection feel like a small snapshot of everyday life in this part of Matanzas.
«Me gustó especialmente que el automóvil que pasaba terminara formando parte de la fotografía casi por casualidad. Solo estuvo allí durante unos segundos, pero ayudó a que el reflejo pareciera una pequeña instantánea de la vida cotidiana en esta parte de Matanzas.»
