America's president wants China to consume more and produce less and wants America to depend less on foreign imports.
Rebalancing the global economy has become the defining mission of Donald Trump’s economic agenda. At the heart of his vision lies a global shift in the global economy he wants China which has for long been the world’s factory to produce less and consume more
And also the United States should re build its industries by producing more and depending less on foreign imports.
Scott Bessent, the current treasury secretary, has bluntly stated that “less consumption” is necessary for economic realignment. President Trump himself has used a more vivid metaphor, suggesting that under his trade policies, American children might have to settle for “two dolls instead of 30.”
Is Americans consuming too much
It's obvious that Americans appetite for consumption is unmatched to anywhere in the world from shopping malls to online stores.
And the majority of those are imports and this has caused back to back negative trade balances.
